With a kind of spiteful self-reassurance, Olga Neuwirth composed the series coronAtion against the backdrop of 249 days of the ban on concerts due to the Corona pandemic. Wien Modern, together with the Angewandte, the MAK and the mdw, is bringing all six parts to the stage for the first time, completely live.
coronAtion IV, an immersive, hypnotic spatial music for three percussionists and samples, will be performed for the first time in its full length of 19 x 31 minutes (while of course short visits are just as possible as binge listening). The beginning, also in the service hall of the former Postsparkasse (postal bank), also designed by Otto Wagner, will be made by coronAtion I and III; followed by coronAtion V at half-time. coronAtion II and VI will be performed at hourly intervals on the other side of the Stubenring in the MAK's Säulenhalle (hall of columns).
