Martin Haselböck was part of Wien Modern from the very beginning – in 1988, he played harpsichord and organ works by György Ligeti (including Volumina), in 1990 Ernst Krenek (including Orga-Nastro) and in 1991 he performed with Claudio Abbado in the Great Hall of the Wiener Konzerthaus. The relationship between the organ and contemporary music in Vienna has developed in an exciting way since then. This is not least due to Martin Haselböck and his diverse concert and teaching activities. To mark his 70th birthday, the Wiener Konzerthaus is honouring him with a solo recital on the large Rieger organ in the Great Hall, built in 1913, and still the largest concert organ in Europe today with its 116 stops for its five manuals and the pedal board.
