Peter Zumthor

With a range of touchingly atmospheric buildings including the Therme Vals, the Kolumba Art Museum in Cologne, Kunsthaus Bregenz or the Bruder Klaus Field Chapel, Basel-born Peter Zumthor (b. 1943) holds a unique place in the world of architecture. Atmosphere is just as much the key to his love of music, that he describes as the “greatest of the arts”. Devised in a close collaboration between Zumthor, the Wiener Musikverein and the Wien Modern festival, thirteen concerts and eight workshop discussions are being held for one week at carefully selected locations in and around Vienna to mark the architect’s eightieth birthday. We are now pleased to invite you to a series of very personal encounters with the Pritzker Prize winner and passionate music aficionado Peter Zumthor.
