Humans now move more rock material than all the rivers and seas in the world combined. After their sensational performance inside the Brigittenauer Bridge at Wien Modern 2019, artist Kathrin Hornek and composer Judith Unterpertinger once again invite us to wander through concrete mountains during the festival. Their book Modified Grounds, Bodies of Data – a visual atlas of a series of sound performances – to be published by Riff am Hang in 2022, will not only be presented on this occasion, but will also function as the score of a performance. Modified Grounds, Bodies of Data will lead into secluded archives of the earth sciences at the University of Vienna and bring excerpts of the sound installations documented in the book to life in live performances.
