When I was asked to be the Musikverein's composer in focus, I felt deeply honoured. I grew up watching the New Year's Concert on TV, and knowing that my music will now be performed in this renowned venue is like a dream come true.

Looking back on my journey, I have had the great privilege of meeting artists and institutions who believed in me and my potential when I was still a student. They provided me with the first commissions that allowed me to hear my music performed, to experiment with different sounds and to develop myself as a composer. These experiences have been invaluable in shaping my artistic voice and strengthening my potentials, and I am determined to give my students the same opportunities I once received. Throughout the last year, I have had the joy of accompanying three incredibly talented composers: Yuheng Chen, Giuseppe Franza and Yoko Konishi. I worked closely with them and tried to help them explore new musical landscapes and develop pieces that reflect their respective approaches to sound and composition. I am grateful to Wien Modern and the Musikverein for offering us a platform with the Composition Lab Iannotta to support us on this path. I see this opportunity not only as an important step for myself, but also as a way I can contribute to the vibrant musical community in Vienna. (Clara Iannotta)
